Big Brothers Big Sisters & BGCN: Helping Our Kids BE GREAT
With your help, our kids have the potential to become great. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Newark partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters to pair volunteer mentors with Club members. Make a difference and become a positive influence in the life of one of our kids.
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States, helping children reach their full potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with proven results. BBBS mentors (“Bigs”) are men and women with big hearts who spend quality, one-on-one time with “Littles.” Bigs spend just four hours a month with their Littles, and together they have the opportunity to make progress, have fun and create lasting memories.
Big Brothers Big Sisters has a direct and measurable impact on young people.
Little Brothers and Sisters are:
- 52% less likely to skip school
- 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
- More likely to get along with their families and peers
